January 22 Stellar Network Upgrade – Increasing Smart Contract Limits

Share:

The Stellar network is set to undergo an upgrade on January 22, 2025, with the implementation of SLP-0001 by validators. This proposal aims to enhance Soroban smart contracts by increasing the number of ledger entries per transaction to 100 read and 50 write, and doubling the event size limit to 16KB. These changes will facilitate complex operations, such as multi-step financial calculations and interchain communication for cross-chain applications like Squid Router. Projects such as Hoops Finance, Soroswap, and Blend Protocol will benefit by efficiently managing liquidity, enabling longer swap routes, and expanding collateral options. Despite a slight increase in transaction processing time, the changes are designed to maintain network performance and scalability. This upgrade enables developers to create advanced applications, improving user experience with more seamless financial tools and enhanced functionality.
